Design Concept:
Home is where we’re from. Home is where the heart is. Home may be one place, or many.
What does ‘home’ mean to me? As an only child, sharing food became my way of extending a hand - an offering of rice, dal, and the soft underbelly of my heart. It is still how I make friends. When I left India for graduate school in the U.S., my mother packed a set of stainless steel dabbas for me — some old, a little dented, all familiar. She filled them mostly with savouries, because she knew exactly what I would miss. The dabbas, worn from years of use, felt less like containers and more like small pieces of home, tucked carefully between my clothes and books.
